Electric Motor Rewind Engineer

Main responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to the following:
 

  • Identify the type of equipment needing repair such as AC/DC Motors, generators, armatures, transformers, coils, etc.;
  • Inspect various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions;
  • Document the external data associated with the equipment or winding;
  • Diagnose and/or test the equipment for malfunctions, failures or damage using diagnostic equipment such as megger, hi pot, AC or DC test panels and related equipment;
  • Dismantle equipment and collection internal data;
  • Identify and document internal winding data;
  • Convert internal winding data as applicable per guidelines;
  • Remove old winding from core or bobbin;
  • Utilize available core test equipment and programs to determine core viability and proper heat dispersion;  
  • Repair or modify existing core to meet test criteria;
  • Complete full or partial core re-stack, if necessary;  
  • Determine correct insulation of core and component parts applicable to the equipment Insulation Classification;  
  • Correctly size and wind coils or wire applicable to insulated equipment;  
  • Perform appropriate wire insertion, wedging and tying of winding or wire;  
  • Perform connection sequence including equipment necessary for final soldering, brazing or welding of internal coil leads to exterior leads;  
  • Tie and proof end clearance of finished winding;  
  • Perform and document final electrical and mechanical test results of the winding, insulation and connections;  
  • Apply the necessary fit, thread and identification coating to allow the correct insulating varnish application;  
  • Dip and bake winding, if applicable;  
  • Work closely with all departments;  
  • Develop Engineering calculations, diagrams and technical reports;  
  • Ensure projects are completed on-time and within the specific budget;  
  • Promote the safety culture within the company by working within all safety policies.  

Education & experience:

  • Bachelor`s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Design or Electrical Engineering;
  • 3 to 5 years experience in electrical / mechanical repair, motor shop servicing;
  • Experience in Explosion Proof would be advantage;
  • Experience in reading and understanding engineering drawings and electric and electronic circuit schematics;
  • Requires diagnostic trouble-shooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly, testing and safety abilities at a career skilled tradesman level;
  • Must be proficient in working with standard and premium efficiency type motors;
  • Travel and work extended hours as required.

Main responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to the following:
 

  • Disassemble, inspect, repair and assemble various types of electric motors;
  • Repair/replace other damaged components of motors;
  • Rewind electric motors;
  • Operate equipment to perform rewinds and repairs (overhead cranes, grinders, winding machines, ovens, etc);
  • Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment;
  • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions;
  • Test rewound electro-mechanical equipment according to required Standards and document test results;
  • Test windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, telephone receiver, insulation tester;
  • Wind new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators;  
  • May rewind defective coils;
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis;  
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools;  
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection);  
  • Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor;  
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled job related duties as directed by supervisor;  
  • Promote the safety culture within the company by working within all safety policies.  

Education & experience:

  • Have some sort of mechanical/electrical background and qualifications;
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in electrical / mechanical repair, motor shop servicing;
  • Good understanding of working and maintaining motors;

  • Able to use bearing puller tool and induction coil for bearing replacement;
  • Able to perform sizing work by using measurement tools;
  • Able to balance the motor rotors on balancing machine.

  • To determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; to study requests for proposal (RFPs); to attend strategy meetings;

Rotating Equipment Engineer

Rotating Equipment Engineer reports to Maintenance Delivery Manager and provides maintenance engineering support for Gas Compression/Power Generation Stations. The successful candidate will need to work closely with Field Service Engineers and Site Supervisors in order to achieve continuous running of equipment and machinery. Maintenance engineer will work with other professionals in order to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods for rotating equipment;
  • Review and update existing company maintenance strategy documents;
  • Troubleshoot breakdown problems associated with rotating equipment;

Instrumentation Site Superintendent

Education & experience:

Main responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs field inspections and oversees field measurements and data collection;  
  • Performs package mechanical and electrical systems planned and corrective maintenance;  
  • Provides front-line support to installation and commissioning activities;
  • Gas Turbine Engine removal and installation;  
  • Conducts condition monitoring of equipment (vibration analysis and diagnostics, lubricant analysis etc.);
  • Mechanical systems retrofit and upgrade;
  • Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures compliance with HSE standards;
  • Initiates/participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation in assigned area of responsibility;
  • Communicates with customers regarding condition of equipment and repair work scope;
  • Generates and submits timely field service reports;
  • Performs technical duties in area of responsibility;
  • Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them;
  • Performs equipment troubleshooting problem rectification;
  • Evaluates component condition and repair options and performs risk assessment for maintenance activities;
  • Identifies and implements new or existing repair technology in area of responsibility;
  • Inspects completed work or work in progress to assure job quality, including off-site work performed by vendors at their facilities;
  • Performs field repairs of driven equipment, pumps, compressors and generators; 
  • Contributes to Computerized Maintenance Management System Program (CMMS);
  • Coaching and mentoring junior maintenance staff as per developed on-job-training program;
  • Provides input on full field development specifications and related process equipment;
  • Ensures compliance with all company and governmental safety, environmental and health rules and regulations;
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by the Senior Field Service Engineer, including the possibility of occasional workshop-based activities.

Education & experience:

  • High school diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;  
  • Detailed information of power plant systems and equipment in area of responsibility;
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in rotating equipment onsite maintenance, operations, troubleshooting and reapir;
  • Experience in a similar industry is strongly preferred;
  • Strong knowledge on rotating equipment installation/maintenance; philosophy of Gas Turbines and Centrifugal Compressors, and their auxiliaries (lube oil system, fuel gas system, seal gas system, steam system et), and SCADA system.

Working conditions:

  • Working environments is offshore based;
  • Working schedule is rotation based 14/14.

  • Annual inspection of NOV equipments
  • (TOP DRIVE/IRON ROUHNECKS/BRAKES/PIPE RACKING SYSTEM/POWER SLIPS/RST);
  • DRAW WORKS BRAKE (WICHITA/EATON);
  • POWER SLIPS (PS21/PS30);
  • PIPE RACKING SYSTEM;
  • Reading/understanding of Electric /Mechanical /Hydraulic drawings;

Additional information: 

Successful candidate should be able to:

  • Reading and understanding Mechanical/Hydraulic Diagrams & General Mechanical Troubleshooting
  • Carry out visits to internal and external client sites within the region, onshore and offshore for the purposes of testing, supervising installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, servicing and maintaining equipments;
  • Efficiently supervising the company, sub-vendor and other site labour as necessary;
  • Conducting all work activities as per the legal legislation; 
  • Preparing and submitting detailed report identifying all work conducted and all hours worked for all site work undertaken;
  • Preparing internal reports from any site observations to allow continual improvement of the Company’s documented quality system and standard design procedures;
  • Generating procedures for testing, installations, pre-commissioning, commissioning, service and maintenance of equipment supplied by the company as necessary;
  • Ensure all documentation related to the work performed is filed for future access in accordance with standard procedures;
  • Responsible for office based activities as necessary, including preparation of operations and maintenance manuals, spares lists and provide technical advice to clients;
  • Working under pressure.
